Scoliofit Program Training Process

This program offers one on one training or group exercises with our physical therapist. Prior to you starting the program an initial evaluation will be performed to assess your posture, muscle and spine flexibility and most importantly to identify your spinal curve pattern. Knowing your spinal curve pattern will determine your individual posture correction in which your personal training will be based from. Personal training may include yoga poses or strap exercises that will incorporate the posture correction specific to your spinal curve pattern. A recent x-ray is required in order to participate in this program.

One on one personal training:

This program is more like a one on one physical therapy session without a prescription. This may involve a short manual therapy to loosen tight and sore muscles. Muscle flexibility is needed in order to unlock the spine to allow freedom of movement. The order of training is flexibility, spinal correction through scoliosis specific exercises, and then stabilization.


Group Exercises:

This program has a maximum capacity of 5 participants only. It is specifically designed so that our physical therapist can easily correct participant’s form and breathing techniques. In scoliosis specific exercises we address the 3 dimensional deformity of the spine. It is important that the 3 dimensional correction is present when performing the exercises. Tactile , visual, verbal cues are needed by each participant to perform the exercises safely and more efficiently. The same order of training will be performed - flexibility, spinal correction, then stabilization but in a group setting.
